I received my kitten on a Saturday morning. Saturday night, I noticed a "scap" and brown in one of it's ears. I brought it to the vet on Monday. His head is COVERED in ringworm and he has a bad ear infection. When I called the foster mother Sat night, she told me another kitten in the group had it. Believe me, I would not have taken him home if I had known this! I told the volunteer who called to check on us about all of this - and the $150 vet bill. She said that she was going to call the adoption coordinator to call me. I never heard from her. I considered returning him, but honestly - I don't want to give him back to an organization that obviously does not care for their kittens adequately.
Now I, my older cat, and my entire home has been exposed to this fungal infection. A kitten should NEVER be adopted out with ringworm (or at least disclosure of such) - not to mention an ear infection.
In talking to other people, I have found that I am not the only one to receive a kitten from Kittico with ringworm issues. If you're planning on getting a kitten from this organization - I suggest THOROUGHLY inspecting the kitten before bringing it home - maybe even with a black (woods) light. |
