The Humane Society of Louisiana is a non-profit animal protection agency based in New Orleans. Our statewide mission is to prevent cruelty to animals and to rescue animals from abuse and neglect. The Humane Society networks with independent SPCAs, humane agencies, law enforcement officials, and private citizens to eliminate animal abuse. The Humane Society operates a private, no-kill "safe house" sanctuary, where animals rescued from abuse & neglect are rehabilitated and adopted. Visit Our New Happy Tails Adoption Center
Happy Tails Adoption Center was opened to offer a convenient, central location for the New Orleans area public to visit and adopt loving pets. Shelter is provided for approximately 50 cats from different rescue groups and organizations including the Humane Society of Louisiana, Spaymart, NO Homeless Pets, The 200 Cat Project, and St. Francis Animal Sanctuary. With cats of all ages, sizes, and colors available, anyone wishing to adopt a cat or two is sure to find their perfect companion(s). If you're interested in adopting a dog, stop by Happy Tails on the weekends when many rescue groups bring in dogs who also need loving homes.
Please stop in and visit the pets at Happy Tails - they love visitors!
Happy Tails Adoption Center is located at 4021 Jefferson Highway, which is across from Riverdale High School, and next to Ark Animal Hospital. This is just down the street from Jefferson Feed and Seed, which is at Central Avenue and Jefferson Highway.
