Each animal brought to the Society is given a physical examination, nourishing food, fresh water, and a warm, clean, safe, comfortable place to stay. There is a separate grooming room for the shelter animals. Volunteers frequently help by taking dogs for walks, playing with the cats, and otherwise socializing with the animals.
Animals are kept at the shelter as long as possible, but room must constantly be made for more incoming cats and dogs. When there is no longer space for pets who have not been adopted, they are euthanized by swift, painless injections.
