Shorewood Cocker Rescue has been in existence since 1985 and for most of that time consisted of Carole Kohler, the rescue's founder, placing homeless cockers into new homes. Then came the technology of the Internet, and the vast possibilities of communication. Through email and the website, Carole recruited volunteers who wanted to help the cocker breed, and since then, this dedicated group of volunteers has placed hundreds of dogs in Wisconsin and the surrounding states.
The rescue recently went through some significant changes including becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a Board of Directors in 2001, and the retirement of the rescue's founder, Carole Kohler, in early 2003. However, throughout these changes we've stayed true to our mission.
"The mission of Shorewood Cocker Rescue is to assist homeless cockers find permanent homes with responsible, loving families. We spay or neuter all cockers prior to placement and check references on all adopters. We make every effort to carefully match each cocker with the right family to maximize the adoption's success."
