OBAH began September 2005 after Hurricane Kartina devastated the gulf coast. Our founder, Caryn Majeskie, realized that there was a desperate need for people to get into the areas for search and rescue as well as feeding and watering the animals on the streets. Once the news broke, local news stations and newspapers took ahold of the story and the operation took off. Our goals and dreams are to continue our work as a search and rescue team and have a facility that will represent a home where we can house the animals until permanent families are found.
