We are Illinois Heartbandits chapter of Heart Bandits American Eskimo Dog Rescue. We cover Illinois, Indiana, and parts of Kentucky along with our sister chapter Snowbird Eskie Rescue. Heart Bandits Inc. is a national not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing American Eskimo dogs or "Eskies". Our dogs come from owner surrenders, shelters, humane societies, and other all breed rescue groups. We work closely with other Heart Bandits chapters nationwide. We also work with animal control, shelters and humane societies in our area. All of our work is voluntary. Our reward comes from the love and affection given to us by our dogs, and the joy of seeing them sent off to deserving families. Unfortunately that doesn't pay the bills for dog food, medicines, vet care, transportation, etc. Funding is always a problem. Our expenses are only partially offset by our adoption fees. Therefore any donations however small are always appreciated. For further information email: capnray@eskieranch.org.

All donations go toward the care of the Animals and Our Ever Growing Vet Bill. All dogs are Vet-checked, up-to-date on shots, Micro-Chipped, and spayed or neutered if age permits. If they are too young, they are adopted out on contract, and we do follow through. We are an all-volunteer group. The dogs are in private foster homes, not centrally located in a shelter. No one is considered for potential adoption without an approved application on file. We no longer accept checks.

Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue is a non profit, State Licensed, ALL Volunteer organization that helps homeless or abandoned Shetland Sheepdogs.........also known as "Shelties". We take in the Shelties that need us, and adopt them out to wonderful new homes. Founded in 1998 by our current director, Natalie Whalen, Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue takes in and places approximately 150-200 Shelties each year!
We will take in any Sheltie that needs us. We do not have a shelter facility. All dogs are housed and cared for in our network of foster homes. This allows us to get to know the dogs personality along with any special needs it may have. All of our dogs get the best of medical care. Each dog is treated for any medical problems.....then spayed or neutered, brought current on all shots, wormed, treated for fleas and ticks, heartworm tested and treated if positive for HW, started on preventative medication, started on flea prevention medicine, and groomed. All shelties are then carefully placed in approved, responsible, permanent homes.

Pet Refuge is a not-for-profit "no-kill" animal shelter run by volunteers for the placement of unwanted and abandoned pets into responsible permanent homes. There is a waiting list to intake all animals that come into our shelter. The cat waiting list runs an average of 2-4 months long and the dog waiting list runs an average of 1-3 months long. We recommend that while you have your cat or dog on our waiting list, you also try other options in trying to place them such as run an ad in the newspaper (please do not advertise for free). Also, check with family, friends, co-workers ect., to see if they can help you out. Screen potential interested parties for your pet and ask for references including a Vet reference. Pet Refuge will try to help as many cats and dogs as possible; however, pet overpopulation is a problem in our community. PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME!

Who We Are
We are focused on rescuing animals off the streets of the city who face no other alternative but a slow painful death due to heartworms and diseases or euthanasia from local animal control facilities.
We provide them with veterinary care, including spay/neuter, foster care and help to find them permanent homes. We are a no-kill agency that does not euthanize animals due to lack of space or time.
We rescue animals who are in desperate need of being saved, such as cases of abandonment, abuse and emergency.
We educate the public about responsible animal guardianship and the need to control pet over population. We assist the public with care for their animals via financial assistance, training, or education.
