Mostly Beagles Rescue was formed to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home beagles that are in local shelters, surrendered by their owners, or found as strays. While our members have been involved in all breed rescue for many years, we decided that we would follow our hearts and help our number one favorite breed, the beagle. We did name it Mostly Beagles because we do occasionally find a non-beagle that we cannot pass up.

We spay and neuter all of the dogs and cats that come through our group before they leave us for new homes. We also are involved in community outreach to help educate the community on the importance of vaccinating, spaying and neutering their pets. Our new facility has been named the Animal Haven, we wanted a name that would reflect a safe harbor for the animals that we were saving from death row shelters as well as a welcoming name for visitors to feel comfortable coming to view the animals. The public can feel comfortable knowing that this is not a depressing shelter but a happy temporary home for these pets until a new permanent family can be found for them.

Friends of Pete is a network of foster families and animal lovers who provide an alternative to the shelter experience. We take our name from Mississippi writer Willie Morris and his famous black lab, Pete, a dog so special that he is reportedly buried in Oxford's cemetery alongside generals, members of Congress, and William Faulkner.

MISSION IS SPAY/NEUTER to reduce the number of unwanted and homeless animals. We offer spay/neuter surgery to animals living with the poor, and to feral cats. This birth control surgery stops cats and dogs from littering, suffering, and reduces pet overpopulation. It also improves the health of animals and makes them better pets.

The Southaven Animal Shelter is dedicated to placing our animals into healthy, loving homes. The Southaven Animal Control Division is run with a pro-active approach. We want to prevent the mistreatment of our city animals as well as keep pet owners aware of the proper care, shelter and protection a pet requires. We are desperately trying to help control the pet over-population by enforcing mandatory spay or neuter upon adoption
