When a dog joins our family, their health is our top priority. Each of our dogs is examined by a veterinarian that tests them for any illnesses. They are neutered/spayed and receive all necessary vaccinations to make them suitable for adoption. A microchip is implanted in each dog’s shoulder, just in case he/she ever gets lost.

South Florida Siberian Husky Rescue, Inc. (SFSHRI) is a non-profit organization. We assist in finding homes for abused/neglected and abandoned purebred Siberian Huskies (mainly ones in kill-shelters and ones found by Good Samaritans on the streets). SFSHRI also assists owners in finding homes for their dog/s that they can no longer keep (this is called a Referral Program). Other volunteers services include behavior/training counseling, breed information, and advice to Siberian Husky owners in need of solving problems with their dogs in order to help them find alternatives to surrendering their pets. We will also post free lost/found ads on our website to help owners reunite with their Siberian Huskies. When possible, SFSHRI will lend assistance to those responsible owners who require financial assistance towards their sick/injured Siberian Husky .

Pets In Distress is an all volunteer run "no-kill" rescue group which takes in and places for adoption unwanted pets.
We do not have a shelter but operate as a foster network. This means that we rely solely on volunteers to provide foster homes for our pets until they are permanently placed in adoptive homes.

Animal Care and Control is part of Palm Beach County Government. Our shelter was started in 1969. We are located at 7100 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach, Florida (five miles west of I-95).
In 1974, the shelter became a division of the Public Safety Department. Programs and services were expanded to keep pace with the growing human and animal population. In 1980, the division became fully accredited by the Humane Society of the United States. Animal Care and Control was the first agency in the southeast and the second in the entire nation to achieve this distinction.
