Pet RefugePet Refuge is a not-for-profit "no-kill" animal shelter run by volunteers for the placement of unwanted and abandoned pets into responsible permanent homes. There is a waiting list to intake all animals that come into our shelter. The cat waiting list runs an average of 2-4 months long and the dog waiting list runs an average of 1-3 months long. We recommend that while you have your cat or dog on our waiting list, you also try other options in trying to place them such as run an ad in the newspaper (please do not advertise for free). Also, check with family, friends, co-workers ect., to see if they can help you out. Screen potential interested parties for your pet and ask for references including a Vet reference. Pet Refuge will try to help as many cats and dogs as possible; however, pet overpopulation is a problem in our community. Kentucky Doberman RescueThis program was founded over 4 years ago. In that time, we have assisted over 100 dogs with finding new homes. We spay/neuter, vaccinate, heartworm test, microchip, and do exams on every dog that we get into the program. Then, we foster them until an appropriate home can be found. Animal Guardian Angel RescueAnimal Guardian Angel Rescue (AGAR) is a home operated organization that is committed to rescuing animals and placing them in loving and caring forever homes. Funding for AGAR comes solely from donations. Most of the animals that come to AGAR are saved from being euthanized in over crowded shelters, others are abandoned animals, or animals that are owner releases. Once in custody of Animal Guardian Angel Rescue, a veterinarian checks the overall health of the animal, and updates all vaccinations. We try to ensure that all dogs are housetrained and have some basic obedience before being placed in their adoptive homes. We are always in need of voluteers who can foster animals in need of loving homes.
