Pets In Distress is an all volunteer run "no-kill" rescue group which takes in and places for adoption unwanted pets.
We do not have a shelter but operate as a foster network. This means that we rely solely on volunteers to provide foster homes for our pets until they are permanently placed in adoptive homes.

Pets In Need Midwest was founded in 1991 by Pat and Rudy Klimo in Ringwood, Illinois. We are a state licensed, No-Kill, Non-Profit Animal Shelter. Pets In Need Midwest is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and we qualify for tax-exempt status. Your contributions are fully tax-deductible to the amount allowed by law. We do not receive any government funding, relying solely on adoption fees, private donations, and fund raising activities. Our mission is to "Champion the humane treatment of domesticated animals" through the following means:
Adhering to the principle that no animal will ever be euthanized to make room for another. Providing temporary shelter and veterinary care as necessary for those unwanted or lost pets until either their owners or suitable adoptive homes can be located. Reuniting lost pets with their owners.
Locating suitable adoptive homes for unwanted dogs, cats, and other pets.
Promoting public awarenesss of and accessibility to spay/neuter programs for pets. Acting as an ambassador for our adoptees in their new homes so that we may continue to work with and support the animals, their owners, and the public.

Many pet problems are due to overpopulation. Pure and simple. And the solution to this is just as simple. Spay & Neuter. It's just not a complicated matter. But it must be addressed on a grand scale. Rescuing and placing 25 or 30 animals a year is inadequate. If we are to end the misery we must be willing to commit to a long term solution to overpopulation.
PETS, Inc. has developed programs to address the problems from the point of rescue, through the rehabilitation and adoption processes and then, going a step further, to insure the animal has a reasonably good chance for successful integration into the family by addressing its training and emotional needs.
We want to be sure that our involvement with the adoptive family will positively impact the way they will interact with their future pets as well.
We believe that most people who do not provide properly for their pets simply don't understand their animal's basic nature, instincts and emotional as well as physical needs. It is our mission to assist people with their pets through education, counseling, training assistance and low-cost health care.

We are "Pets Looking4 Mates Humane Society, Inc., (aka P.L.M.H.S.) This name was chosen for our organization because, like humans, pets need a mate (partner, friend). Our mission is to rescue strayed, abandoned, and displaced animals in our area and after they are up to date on their innoculations and spayed/neutered, our goal is to re-home them in permanent, loving residences. We do not have specificlly set hours for viewings, however you may call for an appointment in the evening or weekends to set up a convenient time for you and your family to visit the Humane Society. We will accommadate your schedule as best we can.
