Animal Aid for Vermilion AreaWe are a non-profit organization that has been in existance for about 14 years. We do not adopt outside of our area, which means we would like to keep adoptions in the Acadiana area. We do not have a shelter open to the public. We take in animals that have been abandoned and/or abused. In fact, most of our animals have been through some sort of abuse and we have worked hard to rehabilitate them to be ready for adoption. We are a very small group of volunteers and we all have animals that we are fostering at our homes. Animal Aid of SW MichiganAbout 20 years ago, a small group of dedicated volunteers got tired of hearing how "someone should do something" about injured, abused, and neglected animals in their area, so they banded together to be that "someone." Animal Aid was born. It isn't easy going out at midnight to pick up a stray dog who's been hit by a car, or trying to rescue a homeless cat with a new litter of kittens from an abandoned house, but these volunteers do it week after week, year after year.
