Huntingdon County Humane SocietyThe shelter is in DESPERATE need of volunteers! We need to find some volunteers willing to come every week to the shelter to walk dogs, and socialize with the cats. Even if you can only give 1 hour a week - that would be a big help! It helps the animals by giving them exercise and socialization skills. They are not as timid to potential adopters if they are used to people. Please help give some much needed attention to these poor animals. Huntsville Animal ServicesAs a traditional municipal shelter, we accept all strays and owner turn-ins from the City of Huntsville and Madison County. By law we must "house or board" stray pets for three to five days. After the "holding period," a decision regarding the "disposition" of the animal is made. The pet may be made available for adoption, be released to a rescue organization or unfortunately, may be euthanized due to space, temperament, or health reasons. Pet overpopulation forces us to make difficult decisions. Euthanasia is a daily function of our organization.
