in late 2002, it was as if someone placed an invisible, 250,000 WATT, BLINKING, NEON sign in the sky directly above our house that said, "LOST OR WOUNDED ANIMALS, COME HERE FOR HELP!", because they started showing up on the doorstep, ON THEIR OWN, mind you, and they just kept coming! Then one day I needed some advice and turned to the Internet, only to find that OTHER PEOPLE ACTUALLY DID THIS FULL TIME!" Heck, I had NO IDEA that you could actually start an organization and be RECOGNIZED as an animal rescuer "officially"!

Honuchan is a non-profit organization that operates completely off gracious donations and big hearted volunteers. There was a fire at the Sactuary 1/18/07. 2 rescue dogs perished in the fire and surely will be found waiting at the rainbow bridge. Please pray for the sanctuary owners and their dogs. Very devastating.

Hoosier Great Dane Rescue, official affiliate of the Great Dane Club of America, is an organization dedicated to the placement of neglected, abandoned, or otherwise unwanted Great Danes into loving and permanent homes. Before placement, all Great Danes are spayed/neutered (no exceptions), current on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventive, and free of any other parasites. Temperaments are evaluated to be sure the dogs can and will become good family members. New adoptive families receive any available medical history, including dates of all vaccinations. New adoptive families are required to sign an adoption contract agreeing that their new Dane will be kept indoors as a housepet, and agreeing that they accept all responsibility for their new pet. Hoosier Great Dane Rescue is funded by adoption fees and donations. 100% of the adoption fee goes directly to offset medical expenses, as well as costs for food, paperwork, phone calls, ads to help place dogs, etc.

HOPALONG ANIMAL RESCUE is a non-profit companion animal rescue and placement service. We foster and place cats and dogs who are at risk of being euthanized by one of the East Bay animal shelters. Since 1993, Hopalong Animal rescue has faciliated placement for over 6,500 dogs & cats, kittens and puppies into new homes. However, we can't do it alone. We can rescue companion animals from the local shelters only with the help of volunteers who act as foster homes for cats and dogs. It seems that we are always in desperate need of more foster homes.
