mission is to reduce euthanasia due to lack of appropriate homes, to assist pets by rehabilitation to become adoptable into good, loving, lifetime homes, and to assist homes in obtaining and maintaining appropriate pets for their lifestyle. Fine Feathered Friends Sanctuary, Inc. depends solely on private donations. We supplement our income by designing and selling play gyms and stands and bird boarding services. We work almost exclusively with dogs - so we named ourselves Fireplug Rescue. Our group began from the rescue efforts of individuals who often worked through other rescue groups. Dogs rescued came from the streets and shelters of Fort Worth, Texas and its surrounding communities. It was felt that these efforts would be even better served by forming a new group that could expand these efforts even further. The volunteers of Fireplug Rescue believe that given the right opportunity, most dogs can lead safe and happy lives that will benefit the lives of their owners. It is also believed that birth control in the pet population by euthanasia must be stopped, and that the only way to do this is to spay and neuter pets. Therefore, all pets offered for adoption through Fireplug Rescue are spayed and neutered prior to adoption. The only exception is when the current health condition of the pet causes the delay of spaying and neutering surgery. In these rare cases, the adopter will sign a spaying and neutering agreement prior to adoption.

First Coast Rabbit Rescue will accept into its protection any rabbit that has been mistreated or abandoned. The organization does not deny shelter because of disability or disease. All rabbits, after being nursed into optimum health by knowledgeable volunteers and when necessary local vets, are spayed and neutered before being placed up for adoption. FCRR volunteers screen all adopting families to ensure these rabbits will be placed in a secure and loving home. First Coast Rabbit Rescue is not a shelter; it is solely reliant upon the efforts of its volunteers. The rabbits do not live in kennels, but in the loving homes of foster families who see to it that the animals are litter box trained, fed and well cared for, with expenses coming more often than not from their own pockets. For these reasons there is a strict policy regarding our acceptance of rabbits. When bunnies run out of time at local animal shelters, FCRR volunteers take those bunnies. FCRR also accepts bunnies that are rescued by individuals who witnessed their abuse. If you wish to dispose of your companion rabbit simply because it has become an inconvenience, FCRR can provide information to help you find a new home for your rabbit. In cases of extreme emergencies and only if a foster family is open to another rabbit, FCRR will accept rabbits from their owners. In such cases the owners are expected to provide the cage, toys, and other items belonging to the rabbit as well as the funds necessary to have the rabbit spayed or neutered if she is not already. The cost is around $200 per bunny. Due to the impact of so many uwanted and homeless bunnies in the Jacksonville/First Coast area we are unable to accept owner relinquish rabbits at this time. Jacksonville Animal Care and Control will be able to accept your rabbit if you cannot find him/her a home however they are a kil facility and due to the recent tragedy of the Jacksonville Humane Society they may not be able to hold your rabbit for a lengthy period of time. If you feel you need to part ways with your pet due to behavior issues, please try www.rabbit.org for tips on how to manage unwanted rabbit behavior.

Shih Tzu and Furbaby Rescue, Inc. is a national rescue organization that is dedicated to the rescuing and rehoming of toy purebred and mixed breed dogs. We accept dogs in need from shelters, other rescuers, puppy mills and individuals giving up their pets for a variety of reasons. Our furbabies are examined and treated by our veterinarians, innoculated, and spayed or neutered before placement. They are also thoroughly temperament assessed. We believe that, somewhere, there is a home for every dog, but that we have a responsibility to place our dogs into homes that will best meet their needs, both physically and emotionally. We look for people with patience and loving hearts, and an understanding of the furbaby mind.
