Committed Alliance to StraysEvery year thousands of cats and kittens in Southern Oregon are abandoned and left to fend for themselves. In many cases CATS is able to step in and rescue these feline friends from cruel and unloving life on the street. Our rescue stories range from cats found in garbage dumpsters, to litters of kittens found on remote country roadsides. We at Committed Alliance to Strays are determined to do something about this problem. We think cats should be in homes, not alleys, vacant lots, or dumpsters. Our program rescues homeless and abandoned cats, gives them special care, including medical check-ups, testing, vaccinations, behavioral checks, and lots of love. Life in our shelter offers cats a chance to rest and become reacquainted with loving humans. Our volunteers spend hours with these cats until they are adopted into a loving home. As part of our goal to help this situation, no cat leaves our shelter until it has been spayed or neutered. We encourage everyone to have their animals spayed or neutered. All of our cats are also tested for Feline AIDS (FIV) and Feline Leukemia (FeLV), diseases which are preventable, but contagious and fatal once contracted.104 N.
