George's Place Animal SanctuaryGeorge's Place Animal Sanctuary was established to help create an environment in which animals displaced due to unforeseen circumstances would have a safe haven in which to live. At this time, we have a network of foster families to care for these cats and dogs until adoptive families are found. Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc.- West Shore ShelterFounded in 1911, the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc. is dedicated to helping people and pets increase their quality of life. We operate two shelters, one on the East Shore and one on the West Shore of the Susquehanna River. Together, the two facilities service Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, and northwestern York Counties of Pennsylvania. Most of the animals received each year at our two locations are cats and dogs; however, the Humane Society accepts and cares for all types of animals, contacting third party agencies for assistance when necessary. The Humane Society relies entirely on support from individuals, businesses, corporations, and foundations to provide funding for our people and pets programs. As a private, non-profit organization, we do not receive any direct government grants or funding from federal, state, or county government (except for services rendered).
