Almost Home Dachsund RescueAlmost Home Dachshund Rescue Society is a nationwide organization of volunteers that seeks to rescue abandoned, abused, neglected, and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mixes, provide necessary veterinary and behavioral care for them, and place them in homes where they will be a perfect fit. As an organization, we operate a little differently from many other national rescue groups: Almost Home rescuers work together, but individual rescuers retain their independent status. As a group, we share access to a website, transport and foster help, information about dogs needing help, and general support. As independent rescuers, we maintain control over how we rescue and place our foster dogs. Members are responsible for the medical care the dogs require, and they determine their own adoption fees. One of our primary goals as a group is raising money to help our own members, as well as other rescue groups and shelters, care for dogs who require medical treatments that cannot be covered by adoption fees. City of Electra Texas/Animal ControlWe are a small impound/holding facility, located in Electra, TX. I am the ACO, Mickie Mann. It is my job to pick up the lost or stray dogs found wandering the streets. They are taken to the impound until we can find their owners or put up for adoption, if they are not claimed. We work with Wilburger/Vernon Humane Society, Wichita Falls Humane Society, Spotted Acres Rescue in Headsburg OK, Altus Animal Aid, Inc, Three B Rescue, Tulsa Lab Rescue and many other Rescues in the Oklahoma & Texas area. I am so thankful to these wonderful people that run these organizations, they have helped me so much, in so many ways! My hat is off to each and every one of you!!!101 N. Whiskers Rescue & Adoption IncFounded in 1995 by Lew Christy and Connie Haun (father & daughter )and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1998, Whiskers Rescue & Adoption, Inc. has found responsible homes for hundreds of cats (somewhere around 500).The cats have total freedom, no cages to be confined in, and they are one big happy family! Newcomers are quarantined until they are tested for FeLV and FIV and then are socialized under supervision with the other cats. They all get along great like a big family. Elgin Humane Society Adoption CenterThe Elgin Humane Society is a non-profit group dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, and the extension of humane education. It is the policy of the Society to promote humane care and treatment for all animals in Elgin and in the Elgin area; to seek to assist the return of lost animals to their owners; and to seek suitable homes for animals without owners. The Society assists the Elgin Animal Control Officer and the Elgin Animal Shelter related to the mission statement above. We provide monetary and non-monetary donations to the shelter to benefit the animals. We also provide volunteers to assist in caring for the animals in the shelter. We are working hard to make the Elgin Shelter a better environment for the animals, to increase spay/neuters and vaccinations, to end chaining of animals, and to decrease the number of animals euthanized.725 W.
