MSBR is a West Virginia Corporation with 501(c)(3) tax deductible status that was formed in 2001 by a group of Boxer dog loving people. We spend a great deal of time, money and energy saving individual Boxer dogs from certain death in West Virginia shelters and dog pounds. MSBR volunteers take in abandoned and unwanted Boxers and foster them in their homes while helping the dog become adoptable. All rescue dogs are given a thorough medical exam and are vaccinated, heartworm tested and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. The dogs are crate and housetrained and taught basic obedience commands while in care. All dogs are tested for compatability with other dogs, cats and children. While there is never a guarantee, we try to adopt only those dogs with sound temperaments

Our goal is to place pets in their forever homes. If you are interested in applying to adopt a pet, please contact us by email to obtain an adoption application and one can be emailed or faxed to you. Applications are reviewed and decisions are made within 24 hours. The Mission of the Humane Society of Morgan County (HSMC) is the extension of education to pet owners in humane treatment of animals, increasing pet adoptions, and to maintain an animal shelter which is dedicated to providing humane care and treatment to animals in our care.
Outside help from SPCA and members of various humane societies helped form HSMC which was founded in 1977. HSMC is a nonprofit organization and only through the support of volunteers and donations from our community are we able to improve the quality of life for our animals.
Other significant programs implemented and managed by HSMC include:
Adoptions and Fostering, Subsidized Spay/Neuter Program, and Lost and Found Assistance.

Promise Animal League, Inc was formed for the prevention of cruelty to animals and educational purposes by a group of individuals who have been helping animals in the local community for over 25 years. Located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia we take in unwanted, abused and abandoned cats, kittens and sometime dogs and puppies; we place them into foster homes until they are adopted into a permanent home. Our group of dedicated volunteers provides a pet food bank for other shelter/rescue groups in the 4 state area. We work with local veterinarian practices to hold cat spay/neuter clinics for the low income public. We also assist the public with trap, neuter and release of feral cats

Greyhound Rescue, Inc. was founded in 1989 by John and Denise Davis. Our goal is to find high-quality, loving homes for ex-racing Greyhounds and to educate people about the excellent, loving pets these noble creatures make.
John and Denise founded the rescue program after they adopted Stacey, a white, brindle-patched, ticked female who raced into their hearts. Their interest in the rescue effort developed into the formation of their own rescue organization. Since its inception, Greyhound Rescue, Inc. has placed over 2,000 Greyhounds in homes throughout Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington D.C.

The Animal Welfare Society was formed to provide care and protection for suffering homeless and unwanted animals; to educate the public in respect to humane treatment of animals and to encourage and assist in the enforcement of laws against mistreatment of and cruelty to animals.
Among the projects undertaken by AWS was a spay/neuter and adoption program in cooperation with Friends of Animals, Inc. and local veterinarians; cooperative efforts with the county on a rabies prevention program; and a project designed to increase knowledge of county children in proper pet care. These programs, while having gone through a number of changes and enhancements, to this day continue to form the core mission of AWS.
