Last Chance Animal RescueLast Chance Animal Rescue is operated by a private family in Pocahontas County WV and we have donated our home and time to take in unwanted , abused and neglected animals and give them everything they need until a new and forever home is found. Although we try to never turn away any animal in need our main areas of focus are rabbits, ferrets,llamas, goats, horses and domesticated birds. Lewis Upshur Animal Control FacilityLewis Upshur Animal Control Facility is Located in Upshur County and is not a Humane Society but an animal welfare organization that serves the needs of two (2) counties. The dogs come into the facility and have a five-day grace period for us to find them a forever home until they are euthanized. If there is a collar with identification on it - we work very hard at finding its owner. Marshall County Animal ShelterThe Marshall County Animal Rescue League consists of a small group of dedicated individuals who through enthusiasm and commitment have turned an "unsheltered" county into a county that has an outstanding shelter program. Our Humane Society is contracted by the Marshall County Commission to oversee animal shelter operations. We work continually to provide progressive programs for the betterment of the shelter and the animals. Marshall County was the only West Virginia Shelter invited to attend the Pets for Life Training sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States and Science Diet Pet Food. Mason County Animal ShelterWe are a high intake county shelter and need rescue help! We are NOT a no-kill shelter. Our county commission limits us to 50 dogs and 36 cats max! Without LOTS of rescue help and adoptions, it will be IMPOSSIBLE for us to maintain the population at this level without euthanizing. Residents, if you need to surrender an animal, we STRONGLY SUGGEST that you reach out to rescues and no-kill shelters via Petfinder for assistance in rehoming your pet. Rescues typically keep animals in foster homes rather than a shelter environment.
