Animal Advocates Brooke County , Inc is an animal welfare group dedicated to finding forever homes for animals at the Brooke County Shelter as well as other dogs and cats that are placed in our foster care. Our members have been leading the fight for a new animal shelter in Brooke County and have been responsible for hundreds of adoptions to date. We are a non-profit corporation and are presently in the process of filing for 501c3 status . We are always looking for volunteers that want to make a difference and have fun doing it. We also ask for donations that will be used only for the welfare of the animals.

Tug Valley Veterinary Clinic has been located in Williamson, WV, for 19 years. There is no animal shelter and no dog pound in Mingo County, of which Williamson is the county seat. We have a tremendous problem with stray dogs and cats. As a consequence we take in between 40 and 100 strays every year. We acquire our adoptees in various ways. Most commonly, someone leaves a cardboard box full of kittens or puppies in front of our door. Others are brought in by good Samaritans who bring in injured pets, usually found in or alongside a road. We have taken in many pets that had treatable diseases or injuries, but the owner was unable or unwilling to pay for treatment. I have 15 dogs who live with me, and I simply have reached my limit. I will offer free veterinary care for any and all strays brought to me, but I do need some help in trying to find homes for the many pets we have for adoption

SMALL BREED DOG AND PUPPY RESCUE
I am a local resident that has always wandered why are there so many dogs beside the road, so i've decided to try to do something about it, instead of wondering why someone doesn't. I have been working hard for about two years and have found many homeless dogs,a forever home. I have a great love for animals and find helping them is rewarding, yet hard and expensive. I do this by myself ,at my own expense, so if you would like to help in anyway please call. I have been able to get some transport help to take dogs to other states where law requires animals to be spayed and neutered ,therefore they are not running along side the roads as they are here, and people give good homes to pets and feel fortunate to have them.

S.O.S. Animal Shelter
S.O.S. (Save Our Strays) is a non-profit organization consisting of officers, board members and a lot of nice residents of Mingo County that really WANT to see a shelter built for our stray animals. We are trying to stop the abuse that goes on every day and help educate people about the proper care and responsiblilty of being a pet owner.
We encourage everyone to help control the pet population by having their pets spayed or neutered. Please help us educate the public about the importance of doing this. Our area is overpopulated with stray dogs and cats that are being left to starve. We need your help to put a stop to this kind of abuse and neglect.

The shelter is frequently overcrowded with pets who desperately need your help. Please consider adopting one of our dogs, cats, puppies, or kittens. If you cannot adopt, please help by spreading the word. Also remember the importance of spaying/neutering to help control pet overpopulation. As our organization is not affiliated with the Putnam County Humane Society (they are a separate organization), we are constantly in need of donations (i.e. cash donations, dog/cat food, newspapers, blankets, kitty litter, bleach, lysol, etc.). If you are looking for a special type or breed of animal, please call our shelter at 586-0249.
