We were the first and only rescue for German Shepherds in the state at that time. Our mission was to help abused, neglected, and/or abandoned German Shepherds to find a new home for the rest of their life. Eventually, we started taking in birds and farm animals also. To date, WGSR has placed over 1000 loving pets in new homes.

We are a group of private homes that take in guinea pigs from shelters who are not able to house them or who are planning to euthanize them. We try to limit the number we accomodate so they all receive the best of care and socialization. Guinea pigs are provided with good food, hay, fresh water, spacious and clean cages, fresh veggies, vet care, and love, so that they will be ready to go to a new home. Guinea pigs who are senior citizens or who have medical problems that make them unadoptable are able to live their natural life out here as long as they are not suffering.

One goal of the House Rabbit Society is to buy a homeless bunny more time. Rabbits that would otherwise be euthanized at area shelters due to a lack of space, health or behavioral concerns are rescued and placed in an HRS foster home. Foster bunnies are spayed or neutered and any health concerns are addressed. Bunnies are litter-trained and any behavioral issues are corrected.
The desired outcome in a rabbit rescue is placement in a permanent, loving home. Every rabbit placed means another can be rescued from a shelter. To view photos and read descriptions of bunnies currently available for adoption through the Wisconsin House Rabbit Society, follow the link below.

Wisconsin Westie Rescue is an organization devoted to the rescue and placement of West Highland White Terriers or Westies. Many of our Westies are from animal shelters that come in as strays or as dogs relinquished directly by former owners. Some of our dogs come from owners who can no longer care for the dog. Once the Westie is in our rescue, it is placed with a foster family who cares for the dog until it is adopted. The Westies are spayed or neutered, given all their shots, microchipped and examined by a veterinarian. The dog’s temperament is evaluated, as well as how it gets along with children and other pets. This way, the dog can be placed with a family that is well suited for it. Our strict adoption procedures and home checks assure that the dog will be placed in a good home.
