By rescuing and rehabilitating homeless Labradors and by vigorously promoting responsible dog ownership in our community through active participation in pet-related events and through our own education program, we strive for a better life for each of our animals. The Labradors in the rescue program are usually strays, refugees from a pound or shelter, or owner relinquished. Most of the dogs are young adults, not puppies. Rescue labs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated (rabies, distemper/parvo, bordatella) and heartworm-tested before they are placed

For the Love of a Lhasa Rescue will help each and every Lhasa Apso or Shih Tzu mill dog that we can depending on the money and foster space we have available. We do at times pay for their freedom whether it is at the auctions or directly from the mills. This includes small backyard breeders, kennel closeouts and sometimes puppies that for some reason were returned or rejected by the pet stores that the mills often sell their puppies.

ARFhouse is now the third largest care-for-life, no-kill canine sanctuary in the U.S. with over 280 dogs on site. ARFhouse provides refuge and care for unwanted, abused, and/or physically challenged canines without regard to size, breed, temperament, age or physical disabilities. Most of the dogs are free to roam the 25 acre property and swim in one of the three ponds. The unsocialized dogs have large 30' by 60' yards with their own dog houses, and if possible, an animal companion with which they can get along.

Humane Society Of Ellis County
We are a non profit Humane Society which aids animals in Ellis County. We were organized 15 yrs ago when the Ennis pound animals were being kept in Ennis. Since that time the animals are being sent to a facility in another town. We have therfore become inactive except for listing animals on Petfinder for anyone in our area that needs help in finding strays and other animals new homes rather than taking them to the pound. We do not have a facility.

TAILS is a small 2 person rescue group; however, we have wonderful friends that help us with Adoption Clinics, medicate dogs, bathe dogs, or anything we may need. We basically handle dogs and puppies that are dumped at our doorsteps and occasionally a cat may appear. We live in Van Zandt County and have no alternative except kill shelters. Our local Humane Society is always full so we try to place these abandoned defenseless animals in loving forever homes.
