We take in ALL ferrets regardless of age or condition. We are no kill unless the animal is in a helpless painful condition, otherwise all ferrets receive up to date vaccinations, microchipping, and medical/surgical treatment necessary. We have foster homes of not over 6 or 7 ferrets where those over 5 are placed to live out their lives with our paying all medical needs. To adopt, we require applications and have special rules on who to adopt to revealed to those who do not qualify.

We are a "never kill" animal sanctuary, and our mission is to rescue every animal that we can. When we rescue the dogs (most from being euthanized at the local shelter) they are first taken to one of our veterinarians, given a full check up, and treated for any ailments.

Wags and Whiskers Animal Adoption Center, Inc. was just started in August due to the need in this county for help with the unwanted pet population. We are currently utilizing foster families to care for animals rather than them having to be euthanized. We are planning fund raisers in hopes of one day building a new facility to house these animals until they can be adopted out to loving families. We are working with area animal rescues, animal shelters and our local Animal Control Officer on adopting out animals and have been successful thus far.

We do West Highland Terrier Rescue, Cairns, Scotties and frequently mixes of cairns and other terriers. We always can find you the perfect pet, if not with our foster network, with some other rescue program. The dogs that come into our rescue program come to us from various means. Some are strays, some have been abandoned or left at shelters by owners who no longer can care for them due to circumstances such as moving, illness in family, new child, divorce, etc

Founded in 1995 by Lew Christy and Connie Haun (father & daughter )and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1998, Whiskers Rescue & Adoption, Inc. has found responsible homes for hundreds of cats (somewhere around 500).The cats have total freedom, no cages to be confined in, and they are one big happy family! Newcomers are quarantined until they are tested for FeLV and FIV and then are socialized under supervision with the other cats. They all get along great like a big family. Whiskers is a NO-KILL shelter and the cats have a lifetime home until they are adopted.

Whiskerville is a 501c3 nonprofit animal welfare organization formed in February of 2000. Our primary goals are to work toward eliminating the needless suffering of stray domestic animals by rescuing them off the streets, providing necessary healthcare, and placing them in loving and responsible homes through our active adoption program. In addition, we strive to educate the public to vaccinate, spay, and neuter domestic animals and eliminate euthanasia as a method of animal population control, and warn the public to research the policies, procedures, and practices of any animal control facility or shelter before surrendering an animal to them.
