Funded by gifts from kindhearted people like you, we are able to provide them with opportunities for a long and comfortable life. For many reasons, a great number of our animals will reside at the Journey's End Sanctuary for the rest of their lives. Please help us make their lives just as comfortable and as carefree as possible.

Kanyon's Gold Rescue (KGR) is a small, non-profit, group of volunteers, dedicated to the rehabilitation, care, and adoption of animals rescued from euthanizing animal shelters in the Maryville/Knoxville, TN area. KGR is a tax-exempt nonprofit corporation as defined in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We promote humane education and encourage responsible pet ownership. Our first priority is to rescue as many unwanted or unclaimed adoptable dogs and pups from area shelters as possible. Relatively new to rescue, 3 years experience, we are committed to doing everything we can to help aid these furry friends in need. As we are a rescue, and not a shelter, all visiting of animals in our program usually occurs in the evening or on weekends. There are exceptions to availability, so please call to schedule an appointment.

Laura's Adoption Center is located within Family Veterinary Practice. On Friday, July 6, 2001, Laura Simaitis, our technician and head of our adoption program tragically died in an automobile accident. Laura's untimely death has caused a real shock within our staff and we all are grieving our loss. Laura had been at Family Veterinary Practice for over a year and was truly loved by staff, clients and pets alike. Laura was a kind, compassionate and fun loving person who drew people and pets to her because of her charismatic personality.
One of Laura's missions in life was to care for orphaned animals, especially kittens. Her passion was to see that these 'seemingly forgotten' and discarded pets were given a chance to be healthy and to be placed in caring and protective homes. Laura had placed hundreds of orphaned kittens in homes across the mid-south that would certainly have met an untimely death. Her adoption center was appropriately called the Affection Connection. We would like to carry on Laura's vision and thereby continuing her memory through the lives of God's Special Creatures by renaming the adoption program, Laura's Adoption Center.
