GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE of SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA was formed as a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation in early 1999. It is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization/a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation serving the counties of Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery. GSR-SP volunteers are dedicated in helping interested adopters to find the right German Shepherd Dog for their family and lifestyle situation. We do this by gathering information from potential adopters, via our Adoption Application Questionnaire, and then talking with interested adopters about their expectations and limitations concerning the care and training of a German Shepherd Dog.

Our all-volunteer group began as a food bank for homeless animals. For twelve years, we worked under the umbrella of a City shelter. This work contributed to the welfare of small animals in a number of significant ways: underwriting facility improvements, offering low and no-cost spay/neuter certificates and food supplies, and promoting humane education within the community. In July of 1995, our group was officially incorporated as C.A.R.E., Inc., a non-profit, all-volunteer organization with the department of the Sate.

We are an exotic bird rescue, and we are believers in being a part of the solution not a part of the problem. We try to give birds a loving, nurturing environment until the perfect home comes along. Until that time, they are cared for and given the in home experience and all the attention they deserve. We have now re-opened for new members to our flock, needing homes.

NGAP is an independent non-profit corporation registered in the state of Pennsylvania. It has no affiliation with any Greyhound track or other organization. It is funded by adoption fees and donations. Donations are tax deductible. NGAP is a 501 (c)(3) corporation. At our kennel facility we house greyhounds and also board them for vacationing owners. We also have a surgical facility and do over 2,000 greyhound procedures annually, more than any other facility in the United States. Our Adoption Program started in 1989. Its primary purpose is to help find adoptive homes for former racing Greyhounds and to educate the public about them. We built our own compound in Philadelphia to house Greyhounds with full-time, live-in caretakers. Every Greyhound has National Greyhound Association tattoos, and is, of course, purebred. Thousands of Greyhounds are killed every year because they cannot run fast enough to make money. Adoption is their only chance of survival!
