Natinional Greyhound Adoption ProgramNGAP is an independent non-profit corporation registered in the state of Pennsylvania. It has no affiliation with any Greyhound track or other organization. It is funded by adoption fees and donations. Donations are tax deductible. NGAP is a 501 (c)(3) corporation. At our kennel facility we house greyhounds and also board them for vacationing owners. We also have a surgical facility and do over 2,000 greyhound procedures annually, more than any other facility in the United States. Our Adoption Program started in 1989. Its primary purpose is to help find adoptive homes for former racing Greyhounds and to educate the public about them. We built our own compound in Philadelphia to house Greyhounds with full-time, live-in caretakers. Every Greyhound has National Greyhound Association tattoos, and is, of course, purebred. Thousands of Greyhounds are killed every year because they cannot run fast enough to make money. Nittany Beagle RescueNittany Beagle Rescue is a breed specific Rescue that works to find homes for unwanted Beagles. Beagles are a member of the scent hound group. They vary between 13 and 15 inches at the shoulder and usually weigh between 20 and 30 pounds. They possess a short coat and are easily groomed. Beagles often live to 15 years. Most of the Rescue Beagles that we place are between 1 and 4 years old. Northampton Borough Animal ShelterWe are open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:30 until 9:00, Wednesday 6:00-8:00, and Saturday 12:00-4:00. Here at the NBAS we do not euthanize cats or dogs.
