Every year thousands of cats and kittens in Southern Oregon are abandoned and left to fend for themselves. In many cases CATS is able to step in and rescue these feline friends from cruel and unloving life on the street. Our rescue stories range from cats found in garbage dumpsters, to litters of kittens found on remote country roadsides.
We at Committed Alliance to Strays are determined to do something about this problem. We think cats should be in homes, not alleys, vacant lots, or dumpsters. Our program rescues homeless and abandoned cats, gives them special care, including medical check-ups, testing, vaccinations, behavioral checks, and lots of love. Life in our shelter offers cats a chance to rest and become reacquainted with loving humans. Our volunteers spend hours with these cats until they are adopted into a loving home.
As part of our goal to help this situation, no cat leaves our shelter until it has been spayed or neutered. We encourage everyone to have their animals spayed or neutered. All of our cats are also tested for Feline AIDS (FIV) and Feline Leukemia (FeLV), diseases which are preventable, but contagious and fatal once contracted.

Friends of Pets of Klamath Basin is a federally tax exempt local, all-volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats and dogs in Klamath County, OR. Our membership is composed of local residents. We are totally grassroots!
We are a “no-kill organization for felines in that none are destroyed because they run out of adoption time, are shy, aged, or injured. Once a feline enters our program, each receives the best care possible and an assurance each will be adopted into a long-term, loving home or have a place at “Cat Haven. We do not accept feral felines. We do not have facilities to take in canines.

Bend Spay & Neuter Project (BendSNIP) offers low cost spay/neuter and vaccination services for stray, feral and barn cats, and critters that can't otherwise afford regular vet care. Our goal is to increase the quality of life for domestic and formerly domestic cats, protect wildlife from demise because of the overpopulation of cats, and reduce the euthanasia rates in our shelters.

CHIMPS INC. is a nonprofit 501(C)3-1 organization dedicated to furthering chimpanzee conservation through education. Here at our private sanctuary, CHIMPS INC. offers a recuperative home for released chimpanzees to live out their lives in dignity. Many chimpanzees in the United States suffer for the first 13 to 14 years of their lives in biomedical research, the entertainment field, or parks/zoos. Upon reaching adolescence, chimpanzees make the life threatening mistake of growing up. Traditionally, euthanasia was the next step, meaning that retirement centers and sanctuaries have not been necessary. Now that we are more aware of the 98.4% genetic compatibility of the chimpanzees to humans, it is no longer morally acceptable to murder our sibling species. Chimpanzees that have dedicated their lives to the human cause now find themselves unwanted and forgotten. Because no chimpanzee ever volunteered to be enslaved by humans, we are once again left to clean up our mess. Humans have the power to enslave these individuals for selfish purposes. Now we must ensure that their contribution to humanity is rewarded by providing them with the best possible care for the remainder of their years (which can reach beyond 50 years).
