Honuchan is a non-profit organization that operates completely off gracious donations and big hearted volunteers. There was a fire at the Sactuary 1/18/07. 2 rescue dogs perished in the fire and surely will be found waiting at the rainbow bridge. Please pray for the sanctuary owners and their dogs. Very devastating.

We are a small, family operated, 501(c)3 non-profit Oklahoma Corporation that was started by Dana and Chris Venters in June 2001. We try to help any creature that crosses our path and is in need of assistance. We provide whatever medical, psychological, physical and nutritional care the animal needs. Of course, this is expensive and we depend entirely on tax-deductible contributions from family, friends, and supporters. We especially try to help elderly and handicapped animals and people. Hopefully, you will find one or more of your true life-long companion animals here. Thank you for visiting our website. Call us if you would like to see one of the animals. If you would like to make a contribution to help the animals please mail it to: PO Box 358, Arcadia, OK 73007. Thank you. We'll keep you posted on our "work in progress".

We are the Oklahoma branch of the National Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation, Inc. Our mission is to act as a shepherd for Saint Bernard dogs and puppies that are without suitable caretakers and are in need of help; to shelter the homeless; to care for and find homes for the unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused; to feed the hungry; to provide medical services to the sick, injured and lame; to assist in the rescue of those subjected to conditions hazardous to their well-being or to confinement in government or private shelter, who without intervention would be needlessly Euthanized; to provide for the humane disposition of those not sound in mind, body or temperament; to educate the public as to the characteristics of, and proper care for, the breed so as to promote compatible, loving, lasting home/family placements; to educate the public as to responsible pet ownership so as to prevent accidental litters and to prevent inhumane trafficking in puppies and dogs, and so as to promote the most humane manner of disposition of pets at journey's end; to encourage, promote and support research respecting the breed that explores or improves relations between the breed and owners or sheds light on the causes of abandonment, neglect or abuse, or promotes the public's understanding of the special characteristics and attributes of the breed or that is designed to improve the welfare of the breed in any manner. Though the Foundation is established to provide services primarily to the Saint Bernard, the foundation will not refuse services to any dog in need of immediate and caring attention

We are a small no-kill rescue working towards educating the public about Spay and Neuter we also want to educate our community as well as the surronding communitys about humane treatment of these wonderful companions. Your adoption fees go to the care of the dogs, with them another life can be saved. Sadly Oklahoma has a 95% kill rate. Our local pound does not kill to make room they destroy the animals after 3 days, if the owner does not claim them or they are not adopted. They will not hold the dogs for me if my shelter is full, so I can pull them into rescue! Please if you are not interested in those on death row look at our adoptable pets, maybe you can make room by adopting one of our other companions. Thank you

A new heated/coold kennel with plenty of space to move about. Located at 2424 Old Timbers Drive (Directly East of I-35 and South of Covell), in Edmond, Oklahoma. We can be contacted via phone at 405-216-7615 or e-mail us.
Hours:
Monday - Tuesday from 9am - 5pm
Wednesday - Friday from 9am - 6pm
Saturday from 10am - 3pm. (Saturday hours are for adoptions only)
Visiting hours begin each day at 9am and Pet Adoptions begin each day at 10am.
The shelter receives somewhere in the range of 1300 – 1500 animals each year. It is our priority to find all healthy and adoptable animals good homes. We truly wish that we did not have to euthanize any animal, however, we simply refuse to place an animal for adoption that we wouldn't want around our own families! Therefore, every animal is evaluated for behavior issues as well as health and temperament before it is available for adoption.
