Stray from the Heart is a non-profit dog rescue organization whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and place homeless dogs with loving new families. We do so without the benefit of paid employees or a shelter to house these needy dogs up for adoption. We have a wonderful network of volunteers, such as dog walkers, trainers and foster parents to help support our efforts to rehabilitate and socialize each dog before a permanent home is found for them. We also provide follow-up support to the individuals and families who adopt a dog from us. Stray from the Heart volunteers are always available to provide advice on health and behavioral problems that may arise after an adoption. We are here to help you find the perfect canine companion and to help every dog find a perfect forever home. Even so, we have a "no questions asked" policy in cases where a dog must be returned to us. Our main concern is the health and safety of our Strays.

Animal Care & Control of New York City (AC&C) is the only animal care organization in New York City that never turns away animals.
Since 1995 the AC&C has been the organization responsible for New York City's municipal shelter system, rescuing, caring for, and finding loving homes for homeless and abandoned animals in New York City. AC&C facilities operate in all five boroughs, and we maintain 15 vans to pick up lost and abandoned animals throughout the city. In 2003, over 50,000 animals passed through the doors of AC&C facilities.

Zani's Furry Friends is an organization committed to rescuing companion animals from New York City's shelters where, unfortunately, they are at risk for euthanasia due to overcrowding. Each dog or cat rescued from a shelter opens a cage and gives an opportunity to another pet to await a chance for adoption or rescue, thereby potentially saving yet another life.

Strictly Strays is an organization established to help alleviate the massive stray cat problem on Staten Island. Primarily we deal with trap, neuter and return of any unfriendly animal to stop the problem of reproduction of feral kittens in an effort to end euthenasia of unfriendly cats. A cat deemed adoptable is then tested for FELV/FIV, vaccinated and spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
