Almost Home Animal Shelter
If you are thinking of adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting an animal from a shelter. Almost Home is a no-kill shelter, but because of that we can run out of space for new dogs and cats. . We are always in need of foster homes for our pregnant moms and puppies and for kittens too young to adopt. They need a safe environment away from other animals while their immune systems are not yet fully developed.

Every year, domestic fowl, mostly chickens, are impounded by Minneapolis Animal Control (MAC). These birds are victims of neglect, abuse and abandonment, sometimes used as a source of eggs or intended for slaughter, fighting or ritual sacrifice. Some are the discarded outcome of "nature lessons" for children or after a hobby that no longer holds interest.
After their release from MAC, Chicken Run provides the birds with temporary shelter and vet care, locates and screens adopters and transports the birds to their new homes within 90 miles of Minneapolis/St. Paul vicinity. There is a special need for rooster homes.

We are NOT A SHELTER with a single physical location. Instead, we are a NATIONAL network of volunteers working to help re-home Cairns in need.
We began as a small internet community of people trying to help one of their members through the heartache of losing a little Cairn named Col. Potter. In the weeks that followed that simple process of showing care and support, a national Cairn terrier rescue was born. It filled a void to serve a wonderful, randomly protected, and sometimes misunderstood breed. Cairns can have every kind of personality, from laid back to intensely lively; most fall somewhere in between.
Our rescue attracts caring foster homes who will provide guidance and love; sometimes for the first time in a rescued Cairns life. Our foster homes also provide an honest, realistic evaluation of each Cairns personality, so an approved applicant can expect to be matched with a Cairn whose traits and behaviors fit their lifestyle.
At present, Col. Potter has just under 200 foster homes all over the United States.

Happy Tails Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization. We are a no-kill rescue foundation consisting of a small group of strictly volunteers who are trying to contribute by finding good, loving homes for the many homeless animals that are out there. We only adopt within the state of MN and within a 60 mile radius of the twin cities as we require a home visit prior to any adoption.

We have been a non-profit, no-kill facility licensed by the State of Minnesota since 1981. Due to the concern for the animals being housed in substandard living conditions, financial constraints, pending litigation of a frivolous lawsuit as well as a severe lack of community involvement, the building was emptied of animals via adoption fairs at Petco and the remaining animals (9 dogs and 26 cats) were transported to the Animal Ark, a No-Kill animal shelter in Hastings, MN.

We are a small, independent chow chow rescue located in southwestern Minnesota. We primarily are asked to take homeless chows from shelters in the Midwest and prepare them for adoption into loving permanent homes. All our adoptees are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, heartworm checked if old enough, and groomed. We are no longer taking owner surrenders, but would be happy to help owners find new homes for their chows by courtesy posting them on this site.
