Mackenzies Animal SanctuaryMackenzie's Animal Sanctuary was founded by the Azzar family in August of 1999, after the passing of their beloved dog Mac. We are a federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose primary goal is to place homeless dogs into loving, lifelong homes. Shiawassee Humane SocietyThe Shiawassee Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, that started in 1954. We moved to the current location at 2752 W. Bennington Rd. In the late 1970's. We are a low kill facility, by this we mean that we only euthanize terminally ill animals that have no quality of life left, and those who do not pass our temperment evaluations, and who pose a threat to the general public. We have an Animal Control Officer that investigates complaints of neglect and/or cruelty. We handle all the animal bites for the county.
