Cumberland Valley Veterinary Clinic is a full service veterinary hospital. We provide for our fosters through our Florence Nightinggale Foster Account. The account provides medical testing for feline leukemia and FIV for cats. It provides for heartworm and lyme testing for our foster dogs. It also pays the costs of medicine the fosters may need. We do require an adoption fee for our fosters.

We currently confine our rescue efforts to the greater Washington, D.C. area (i.e., Maryland, Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Baltimore and surrounding areas ).We believe that if a dog requires re-homing because s/he cannot tolerate life with children or other pets or because s/he has separation anxiety or other issues, our job is to find a new home where such "irritants" do not exist. The welfare of our rescues always takes precedence in the adoption process.

Most of our dogs come from small rural shelters. Overwhelmed with abandoned animals, these shelters would be forced to euthanize these dogs were it not for Friends for Life. By adopting one of these special dogs, you are truly saving a life. Our shelter is located on private land in Frederick County, Maryland. We have no adoption center there, and it is not open to the public.

A non-profit organization dedicated to taking in, “fixing up, and finding forever homes for many unwanted dogs and dogs in danger of losing their lives. All of our dogs come from facilities or organizations that have extremely low adoption rates and have exhausted all other options.

Tails of Hope Sanctuary is an organization which rescues shelter animals who are in trouble. These animals may simply have run out of time at shelters, or have correctable health needs which we address before they become available for adoption. Either way, we provide a safe place for them while they await a permanent home, and we free up much-needed space at the shelter.

We are a small facility- basically a one woman operation.I try to do basically goldens, but if an emergency comes up I will gladly take in other prebred dogs. Or as in a rare case a mix breed. I never know what delightful new rescue I will find so keep checking! I do this for the love of the dogs- and most funds come out of MY OWN pockets- so any donations would be welcome.

The Howard County Cat Club is dedicated to keeping cats out of shelters because we believe that no cat deserves to live in a cage, or to be put to death because it is no longer wanted or in the way. Because we want cats and their people to live in "purrfect" harmony, we provide free behavior consultations by email and telephone. We also help people place their no-longer-wanted cats in loving new homes, foster cats who have nowhere else to go, and assist feral colony caretakers with Trap/Neuter/Return.
