Animal Aid for Vermilion AreaWe are a non-profit organization that has been in existance for about 14 years. We do not adopt outside of our area, which means we would like to keep adoptions in the Acadiana area. We do not have a shelter open to the public. We take in animals that have been abandoned and/or abused. In fact, most of our animals have been through some sort of abuse and we have worked hard to rehabilitate them to be ready for adoption. We are a very small group of volunteers and we all have animals that we are fostering at our homes. Animal Rescue Foundation, IncARF is a small group of concerned individuals that provide care and housing for abandoned or unwanted animals in Lafayette Parish and the surrounding area. Space in our shelter facility is limited. We work to rescue abandoned and unwanted animals, obtaining necessary veterinary care and placing them in loving, responsible homes. We DO NOT euthanize adoptable animals. Over the last few years we have placed more than 300 dogs and cats into loving homes. All animals in our care are current on vaccinations. Dogs are screened for heartworm disease and put on heartworm preventative. Cats are tested (and inoculated against) Feline Leukemia. Most animals we place are already neutered. If the animal is too young for the procedure we will arrange with the new owners to pay for all or a part of the operation. Also, low-income families (under $30,000) qualify for a discount spay/neuter certificate from Lafayette area vets. ALL ANIMALS WE PLACE MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED. Animal Rights for LifeANIMAL RIGHTS FOR LIFE (ARFL), a Non-Profit Organization founded in 1985 by Gloria Trelles Ripple, is dedicated to the welfare and placement of COMPANION animals. Each rescued animal by ARFL's dedicated volunteers receives a vet check, all vaccines, de-worming, de-fleaing and spay/neuter. Dogs are heartworm tested and cats are FeLV/FIV tested. Many have required medical attention, AND have not been denied, such as heartworm treatments and surgeries. We operate out of the pockets of our members and raffles that we sponsor, along with a few small donations made by some of the people who adopt our pets. ARFL's policy is that no animal should ever be killed for want of a good home. APAWS Animal Protectiuon and Welfare SocietyWho We Are A.P.A.W.S. (Animal Protection And Welfare Society) is an all volunteer group of people who are dedicated to ensuring that all pet animals in and around the Baton Rouge area live in homes which provide for all of the animal's physical and emotional needs (including daily maintenance, medical care and nurturing) for the animal's lifetime. Some volunteers provide food, shelter and love in their homes to cats and dogs who have been injured, abandoned or thrown away. Others help by transporting the animals to veterinarian appointments, volunteering on Adoption Days, participating in fund raising activities, mailings, publicity efforts and public education. Because we receive no external funding, we rely on fund raising efforts and donations to fund our efforts. Your unwanted items can help support unwanted animals.
