Hands for PawsHands for Paws is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the suffering of stray dogs (called satos by the locals) roaming Puerto Rico, desperately in need of medical attention, food and water, and a loving touch. We were originally created at Manos por Patas, which means Hands for Paws in Spanish, and operate under both names. Our program involves providing sterilizations to the dogs as well as medical attention and vaccinations. We will broaden the program to provide free or low-cost spay and neuter services for all pets in Puerto Rico. Haven Acres Cat SanctuaryHaven Acres Cat Sanctuary was established in 2003 by three individuals driven by a strong desire to help the many stray, feral, and unwanted cats in Alachua County. The sanctuary is located in High Springs, Florida, which is about 20 minutes outside of Gainesville, Florida. Since its inception, no cat that has needed help has been turned away. Cats that live at the sanctuary are kept on a healthy diet (Science Diet) and are provided with safe, secure housing. Along with being spayed/neutered they are also provided with any other medical attention needed. Many of the cats are adoptable and wait for a forever home to come get them.
