Prior to adoption, all of our kittens have been combo tested (negative) for Leukemia and AIDS, spayed / neutered, given at least their first vaccination (possibly even their second if they are old enough), been dewormed, and - if old enough - have had their rabies vaccination. Street Cat SanctuaryThe Street Cat Sanctuary, Inc. has been doing rescue in our community for more than nine years. The organization was started by Debbie after she started feeding homeless cats living on the streets at fast food restaurants. Every night Debbie went out on the streets to feed these homeless cats in rain or cold. Many wonderful and the most beautiful cats adopted have come from this very situation. The cats have not asked to be dumped by an owner who no longer wanted the burden of owning a pet nor to born into that type of life; its not their fault. So she started Street Cat Sanctuary, Inc. When a little puppy came along and no one would even take him for free the cat rescue went to the dogs. The little ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan known as Murphy and became Debbie's first dog in 27 years. We do not accept "adoptable" animals, these need to be in a regular shelter, so as to find there own home and family's. Some of our animals are dying, have diseases, medical problems that require daily medicine and care,handicapped, old and feeble or with behavior problems that make them undesirable as pets. Once healed, we rely entirely on foster homes to nurture the animals until we find their permanent "forever" home. We DO NOT euthanize because they are injured and their care will be costly - nor do we euthanize because the animal is too old to be adopted. We take animals that most other no-kill organizations will not take --- which makes us a TRUE no-kill organization. We are comprised ENTIRELY of volunteers and no-one receives compensation for their time. We have no funding available to us other than donations and grants we apply for and, contrary to what many people believe - WE DO NOT GET OUR VET SERVICES FOR FREE! We pay - just like you do! We are forever holding fundraising events to raise money to cover our vet bills and keep our fingers crossed with the rest! And no matter what the vet bill was or the pedigree of the dog or cat, our adoption fees for dogs are $175.00 and that includes a microchip! Cats/kittens are $75.00.
