BIG HEARTS Rescue was founded in the summer of 2007. Based in Pasco County, Florida, our non-profit organization is made up of volunteers who freely give their love, time, and support in order to rehabilitate, foster, and ultimately give a better life to needy animals. Through action and education, we hope to not only to educate the public on animal-related issues, but to help foster an atmosphere of understanding and mutual respect for the plight of needy animals. Many of our fosters are special needs and we hope you consider adopting one of them. Just one person can help make the difference for many animals that cannot help themselves.

Protection for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) I have created our web site to unify all K9 rescue groups, pet owners, and everyone to finally put an end to animal abuse. The laws protecting all animals need to be amended to "FELONY CHARGES", and "ENFORCED". If people feared incarceration rather than a slap on a wrist, this abuse would STOP! We need stronger regulations regarding breeding of these pets. We must put an end to backyard breeders and puppy mills once and for all. There is strength in numbers, and TOGETHER we can accomplish this task at hand! REGISTER NOW - To show Support for this CAUSE !! Become part of the TEAM EFFORT to PROTECT ALL ANIMALS !! We NEED to be their VOICE !!!!! United We Stand, Joe

Gilchrist County Animal Services is an Animal Shelter that takes in unwanted or stray pets. This is a kill facility at the present time. The policy for this facility is to hold all animals for six working days, after which, the animal may be adopted or destroyed humanely.
We encourage all animal owners to identify your pets with the owners name and telephone number, rabies tag and/or micro chip. We at Animal Services scan for chipped animals with Avid Scanners, so if found, we can reunite pet and owner.

My name is Carri-Anne Powell. I started working with horses at age 9. I got into rescue when I visited the SPCA in Miami Florida and spoke with Laurie. She helped me adopt my first rescue horse. That got me hooked on saving more of our hooved friends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I moved to Trenton in 1997, I had a dream to build a nice barn and take in unwanted and neglected horses. It was a hard struggle. I have started to build my barns, of which one 7 stall barns is complete with automatic waterers. I have plans to build another 7 stall barn and 5 large paddocks. Since I do not have any volunteers, it is a lot of work for my family. Currently I take care of 16 horses. Of those, 7 of them are personal horses and the rest are rescues.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I take care of these horses by feeding them twice daily. with help from my children. Withouth their help, I would not be able to keep going.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I run this rescue as ME, Carri-Anne Powell & Family DBA Help Save a Horse Rescue.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you live in Gainesville and surrounding areas and would like to volunteer to help with these rescues, please don't hesitate in giving me a call. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need help with fencing, brushing, cleaning stalls and excercising.

Humane Society of Gilchrist County Inc.
We are a NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL Humane Society and function on donations only. We need donations to help all the animals, and to continue to fund our free spay/neuter vouchers program for the public. To date we have not had to destroy any abuse or rescue animals. We have brought back to health and saved every single one. Considering the near death condtion some of them were in, we feel this is a GREAT accomplishment!

New Hope Sanctuary for the Animals is a rescue, haven, and adoption organization for abused, tortured, and abandoned innocent animals and pets. We are based on the Christian principles that God intended humans to follow as guardians of His creation. We are a not-for-profit welfare, protection, rescue, rights organization dedicated to the compassionate care of stray and abandoned cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, litters, and farm animals (chickens, pigs, etc.). We encourage people to adopt and provide kind and loving care for a cat, dog, kitten, puppy, or litter, as well as to promote humane population control through spaying and neutering. We are involved in direct action in rescuing and placing animals within a network of animal groups across the nation, and in increasing public awareness and education about the abuse, torture, factory farming, slaughtering, butchering and the murder of innocents, and the need to spay and neuter. Through the media, special events, and publications we promote anticruelty, love, compassion, mercy, respect, and kindness towards all animals, animal theology, and compassionate alternatives to animal products.
