Jin-Sohl Jindo Dog RescueThe majority of dogs taken in by JJDR come to us through Los Angles City and County shelters. They were either picked up as strays running the streets of Southern California or were dumped at the shelter by uncaring owners. Unfortunately, the need for rescue far exceeds the space available, and it’s only the lucky few who make it into foster care. When a dog is brought into rescue they are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, checked over by a veterinarian, and microchipped. They are then placed in an evaluators home where they are temperament tested and quarantined for a minimum of two weeks. After evaluation they are placed up for adoption and into a foster home if one is available. While being fostered our dogs are often given basic obedience training and crate training. Plumas Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)PAWS is a private non-profit organization dedicated to ending the killing of adoptable companion animals in Plumas County, California. We are located in the small mountain town of Quincy, CA, about 80 miles northwest of Reno, Nevada. We are not part of or funded by any other group though there are many bearing a similar name. PAWS rescues cats and kittens who would otherwise be put to death at the county animal shelter. In the past two years alone, over 800 beautiful innocent loving creatures were rescued by PAWS and placed in new homes. Emergency Animal RescueEmergency Animal Rescue(EAR)was founded in 1994 following the devastating floods in the Tijuana River valley. This disaster showcased a need for a highly trained and dedicated animal rescue organization. Through ongoing technical and safety training, the EAR has successfully rescued literally thousands of animals from life threatening situations. From the rescue of a cat that has gotten itself trapped in a tree for days to crawling through underground sewer pipes to rescue an abandoned dog to the evacuation of large horse ranches in front of wildfires, the EAR does it all, and we do it at no cost. Amidst all this, we are a responsible community partner, taking time to speak to our kids in schools and other community events about the importance of animals in our environment.
