We are the municipal animal shelter that takes in stray and homeless animals for the City of Stillwater. We are staffed by a supervisor and two animal control officers who enforce city ordinances. We are small, 13 dog runs and 26 cat or puppy cages, but have many new animals available weekly. We are unique because we have two shelters in one location by leasing to our local "no kill" Humane Society organization who has many more animals not listed on this site. (They have their own site on petfinder now.) However, our shelter is NOT a "no-kill" shelter and we need to make room for new animals weekly, so the animals listed here are in desparate need of homes. Not all of our animals are listed, so if you are close, please come visit!

Stillwater Rescue is located only 1 hour from Charlotte and 1 1/2 hours from Greensboro. We feature both pure and mixed breed dogs that are usually under 20 pounds. Our dogs are fostered in a climate so that we know them well and can place them in the kind of home they need. Our goal is for both the pet and the adoptive family to be very happy with each other.

Our Mission is to help as many ferrets in need as we can. Even if we reach our capacity, or are not able to take on any more financially, we will do our best to find a good home for any ferrets in need. We intend to provide the best medical care, and attention, to any ferrets that come into our care, and to find the best homes available for our adoptable ferrets
