The new shelter building, completed in 1991, is the Island's safe haven for our lost, stray, surrendered and abandoned animals. Services we provide include spay/neuter programs, adoption and grief counseling, euthanasia, and cremation.

The MSPCA Springfield Animal Care and Adoption Center is the busiest of 7 MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Centers statewide. An open-door facility, we turn away no one. More than 10,000 dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, reptiles, and wildlife are received yearly.

The Humane Society is an independent, non-profit agency in Muhlenberg County to licensed to operate an animal shelter We are currently located in a block building that we moved into in 1985. The Humane Society is not a department of city or county government. The county owns the shelter building.
