Looziana Basset RescueLooziana Basset Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit volunteer effort to save abandoned and mistreated basset hounds for the love of the breed. Our rescued bassets are from shelters all over Louisiana and Mississippi, are strays whose owners cannot be found, or are relinquished by owners who no longer want them. Changing lifestyles, the economy, and lack of responsibility are some of the reasons for the abundance of abandoned basset hounds. Looziana Basset Rescue takes the orphaned bassets into foster care, where they are loved and cared for until permanent adoptive homes can be found. We provide veterinary care that includes vaccinations, heartworm treatment if necessary, and spaying or neutering. Los Banos Animal ShelterLos Banos Animal Shelter is a municipal shelter that receives a lot of help from the volunteers. We are a very small shelter in a growing city. Our volunteers have opened the shelter on Saturdays for adoptions. We groom and exercise the dogs, which also help us evaluate them for placement.
