G.R.I.N. was incorporated in 1992 by a group of golden enthusiasts who recognized the need to find good homes for the countless goldens who are euthanized each year for lack of a loving home with a caring family. The number of unwanted pets filling shelters, pounds, and humane societies is staggering, and the fate of these animals is, at best, depressing. The overwhelming fact is that almost 38% of these dogs are purebred. Thankfully, there are many other purebred enthusiasts who also realize the need to aid their own, and they are networking with us in an effort to help alleviate the burden that shelter workers are faced with daily. The efforts of these people working with rescues are most commendable.

Grove City Area Pet Rescue is a non-profit organization helping stray/unwanted cats and dogs find new loving homes. We hope to start a spay/neuter program in the future in hopes of reducing the litter problem in our area. Our goal is to help as many animals as we can in Grove City and surrounding communities. There is a severe overpopulation of pets in this area and many are abandoned or surrendered by their owners. A large number of these innocent animals end up in our local high kill shelter where they are euthanized in the gas chamber.

GRReat Dog Rescue (GDR) was set up as a 501(c)3 and chartered within the state of Tennessee as a nonprofit group in the spring of 2003, consisting of volunteers that love dogs (and other animals too) and want to help adoptable family dogs that end up homeless through no fault of their own. Some of the volunteers have been involved in rescue since the 1980's and really enjoy helping these wonderful dogs. These little guys turn up constantly in shelters, as owner turn-ins (moving, death, illness, etc.) or found in the streets where they have been left to fend for themselves.

We are a personally funded, county-approved rescue that specializes in the "Bully Breed" - American Staffordshire Terriers, American Pit Bull Terriers, Bull Terriers, and the like. We rescue dogs, evaluate them, ensure they are healthy, and ultimately pair them with a permanent family. We take pride in finding the right dog for the families that contact us by matching the activity level of the dog to the family's needs and making sure that other pets in the family work well with the new addition to the pack. All of this is important in finding forever homes for our rescued pets.

Grundy County Humane Society/DANE911
Are you interested in adopting a "rescued" Great Dane or in knowing more information about them? Here's a summary of what we do and a phone number to call... We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are contacted by humane societies, animal control facilities, and individuals interested in placing Danes of assorted ages into new homes. We arrange to see the dogs to help check temperatment, and we take them to a veterinary facility for fecal and heartworm checks, shots, spay or neuters, and micro chipping before placing them into new homes. We do not provide dogs for breeding purposes. We interview interested families over the phone to fill out information sheets about their circumstances with housing, children, other pets, amount of yard, exercise, or walking which can be provided. This enables us to attempt to place the dog, as it becomes available, not by the order in which you enroll with us, but by the best "fit" for the dog. Expect to pay approximately $600.00 for a rescued Dane. We hold this donation a week until we see that the dog is fitting in with its new family. Then the donation is used to fund the medical expenses for the next dog. We are happy to talk about medical, feed, or other problems you may have with your adopted Dane, and we ask you to sign a contract agreeing to alert us in future if you have questions or problems with your dog. We provide information on gastric torsion and bloat in large dog breeds and discuss and require that you are prepared to keep the dog on heartworm preventative monthly as treating heartworm is expensive, time consuming, and very stressful for dogs and owners. We do not breed or sell puppies. We will be happy to try to put you in conact with reputable breeders who x-ray for genetic problems, use spay and neuter contracts on pet quality dogs, and who are "responsible" for helping readopt their own dogs that must be returned for some reason. We are looking for Great Homes for Great Danes. Do you qualify?
