The mission of Friends of Liberty Animal Shelter is to promote the humane treatment of companion animals by way of education, humane animal population control and care for homeless, strayed, or unwanted animals. Our group survives strictly on tax-deductible contributions and is run completely by volunteers. Donations are used to fund our low cost spay/neuter program, to provide veterinary care to rescued animals, to educate the community on companion animal issues and to distribute our bi-annual newsletter.

The FLSS School Horse Retirement Program, established in 2003, has been established as a means to find suitable new homes for horses retiring from the Lord Stirling Stable lesson program. The program will ensure that our retiring horses, which have worked so faithfully for us, continue to be loved and well cared for even with their limitations. The Program will maintain a fund to be used to cover costs of board and care for retiring horses until a suitable home can be found. This program will help to ensure a bright future for our school horses.

FMAR is a non-profit 501(c)3 rescue for dogs and cats that started in April 2003 with the help and support of hundreds of wonderful people. We grew by leaps and bounds, so we bought a 6 1/2 acre farm and renovated the smaller of the 2 barns with 9 dog kennels and 5 unique cat kennels. Our renovation has allowed us to house a larger number of pets. Our mission is to protect animals and residents by promoting a healthy and safe enviornment for all. FMAR felt we needed to start in our own community helping our Animal Control facility find homes for the strays they pick up or are brought to them. When we have extra space we have done our best to help out neighboring communities too. We are amazed and saddened every day by the abundance of homeless pets and hope to raise enough money to renovate our larger barn very soon. Thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged us to continue when things got tough. Keep watching the best is yet to come!!
