Aid to Animals of Northern Illinois
Aid to Animals is a Illinois shelter concerned with finding homes for some of the millions of homeless animals in our country. We take in cats and dogs. In the spring, there are many homeless pregnant cats who we place in foster homes. The kittens are spayed or neutered and then placed for adoption. The mama cats are spayed and also placed for adoption. Many times we also rescue dogs from shelters and holding facilities when their "time" is up. We try to rescue those sweet, loving animals that might find a home. We are strong advocates that adult dogs and cats can make the best pets for many reasons. Also, most potential adopters want puppies and kittens, however, when they realize the work and destruction involved, many times the kittens and puppies are given up to the shelter. Adults are calmer and learn quickly. They are extremely appreciative of the chance for a new home. Please consider an adult pet instead of a youngster.

The ATCA Rescue and Adoption Committee was established by the Board of Directors on October 5, 1990, to recognize, support, and promote regional and individual rescue efforts, many of which had existed for some time. This has been accomplished in several ways: The directory of rescue contacts serves as a network for rescue workers, and provides a contact for any ATCA member who becomes aware of an Airedale who needs help. The committee provides information and education for those new to rescue. Our fundraising efforts provide financial support to rescue workers if their resources are not sufficient to help a dog.
