Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS)Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS) is an all-volunteer non-profit humane society devoted to the prevention of animal suffering. CAAWS has been serving the people and animals of Baton Rouge since 1979 by placing cats and dogs in loving homes and educating the public about responsible pet ownership. CAAWS is not a shelter, but an adoption agency, which places animals in foster homes until they are adopted. In this way we try to prepare the animals for the experience of living in a home environment. We are a no-kill humane society. We also provide a service to the public by allowing people with unwanted animals to put their pets up for adoption at our facility. Capital District Humane Association, Inc. (CDHA)The Capital District Humane Association is the oldest, all volunteer, no-kill, private animal welfare group dedicated to serving the Capital Region of New York State. We are incorporated, approved by the ASPCA of NY and registered as a 501(c)(3) Not For Profit Charity with New York State; therefore all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. We are an all-volunteer rescue group that operates strictly on public support. Therefore, all donations go directly to the care of the animals. Our goal is to find every animal a loving home.
