Weston County Humane Society (WCHS) is located in Newcastle, Wyoming. WCHS was formed in 1982 by a group of concerned citizens who recognized the need for a facility which would provide for the humane treatment of stray and unwanted pets. As a non-profit organization, WCHS relies on one part-time director and a board of five to eight volunteer board members for day to day operations. It is the only humane society in the northeast corner of Wyoming, serving the needs of Weston County, as well as neighboring communities. Our mission is to continue to provide shelter for lost or unwanted pets, adoption and placement services for these pets, and community education regarding responsible pet ownership, humane animal treatment and care, while stressing the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals to control pet-overpopulation. On October 18, 2004, we began partnering with the Wyoming State Boot Camp for the training of our shelter dogs. The Boot Camp is part of a minimum security prison near Newcastle. Inmates from the Boot Camp and WY Honor Conservation Camp have been coming to the shelter weekly for over two years to help construct the new building, clean kennels, brush and walk the dogs, etc. We now have four dogs at a time living at the boot camp facility for four weeks and receiving training in basic obedience commands, as well as receiving daily grooming and exercise.

Whatcom Voice of the Animals (WVOA) has a simple mission for its existence, to save as many lives as possible from needless death. We are a no-kill organization that has no central shelter. Instead, our compassionate volunteers open their homes as foster care facilities. Animals staying in foster care are cared for and nurtured until adoptions are arranged.
