German Shepherds Rescue of SW PennsylvaniaGerman Shepherd Rescue of Southeastern Pennsylvania ("GSR-SP") was formed as a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation in early-1999. Many of the people involved in GSR-SP were formerly involved with one or more other German Shepherd rescue organizations. Compassionate Animal Relief EffortOur all-volunteer group began as a food bank for homeless animals. For twelve years, we worked under the umbrella of a City shelter. This work contributed to the welfare of small animals in a number of significant ways: underwriting facility improvements, offering low and no-cost spay/neuter certificates and food supplies, and promoting humane education within the community. Natinional Greyhound Adoption ProgramNGAP is an independent non-profit corporation registered in the state of Pennsylvania. It has no affiliation with any Greyhound track or other organization. It is funded by adoption fees and donations. Donations are tax deductible. NGAP is a 501 (c)(3) corporation. At our kennel facility we house greyhounds and also board them for vacationing owners. We also have a surgical facility and do over 2,000 greyhound procedures annually, more than any other facility in the United States. Our Adoption Program started in 1989. Its primary purpose is to help find adoptive homes for former racing Greyhounds and to educate the public about them. We built our own compound in Philadelphia to house Greyhounds with full-time, live-in caretakers. Every Greyhound has National Greyhound Association tattoos, and is, of course, purebred. Thousands of Greyhounds are killed every year because they cannot run fast enough to make money.
