Shorewood Cocker RescueShorewood Cocker Rescue has been in existence since 1985 and for most of that time consisted of Carole Kohler, the rescue's founder, placing homeless cockers into new homes. Then came the technology of the Internet, and the vast possibilities of communication. Through email and the website, Carole recruited volunteers who wanted to help the cocker breed, and since then, this dedicated group of volunteers has placed hundreds of dogs in Wisconsin and the surrounding states. The rescue recently went through some significant changes including becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a Board of Directors in 2001, and the retirement of the rescue's founder, Carole Kohler, in early 2003. However, throughout these changes we've stayed true to our mission. "The mission of Shorewood Cocker Rescue is to assist homeless cockers find permanent homes with responsible, loving families. We spay or neuter all cockers prior to placement and check references on all adopters. Good Shepherd K-9 RescueGood Shepherd K-9 Rescue is dedicated to saving and finding good homes for unwanted, abused or homeless purebred German Shepherds. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization started by individuals whose love of the breed, knowledge of health and temperament, experience with fostering and placing German Shepherd dogs in good homes recognized a need for a rescue when the shelters become full or someone needs to find another home for their German Shepherd. Our hope is to educate the public on the breed and the responsibility of owning a German Shepherd. Midwest Friends of Animals INC.We are a small, non-profit group of concerned citizens in a severely economically depressed area, with little community support for animal welfare. WE HAVE RECENTLY ACCEPTED ANOTHER BUILDING WITH CATS TO BE CARED FOR FROM LYONS FERAL CAT GUARDIANS WITH 15 CATS!! PLEASE HELP US CONTINUE THEIR CARE!!! While there are so many uwanted animals to help, we do NOT simply hand out pets. We take them into our hearts and homes and care greatly about their future. We do this because we care and want to know that the animals we help are in the best homes possible. Toward this end, we require applications, home visits and adoption fees which, (without government funding) allow us to continue this effort. Our group consists of dedicated volunteers only with NO PAID EMPLOYEES!! EVERY DONATION GOES DIRECTLY TO HELP AN ANIMAL! We are not a shelter but we do have a cat sanctuary and our dogs are housed in foster homes. WE ALWAYS NEED DONATIONS OF ANY ANIMAL ITEMS: HEARTWORM MEDS, FLEA TREATMENT, etc., AS WELL AS MONETARY DONATIONS!
