SAVING GRACES 4 FELINESSaving Graces 4 Felines was founded because it was determined that no organization in the area was available to help cats that were abandoned, stray, or feral living in less than desirable conditions. This situation has contributed to cat-overpopulation in an area that has become a haven for animal abandonment from local educational institutions and uncaring people who think of domestic animals as disposable, because of the saturation of eateries that contribute to the waste which has become a source of food, and because of the growing rental properties that are abundant in a rapidly growing community. Additionally, the flooding from Hurricane Floyd in 1999 left countless animals homeless to fend for food from these sources. Our goal is to rescue, and either place cats into loving homes, or continue our trap/neuter/return program that has proven an effective tool in reducing the over-population. Additionally, education for responsible pet ownership will be conducted. Pitt County Humane Society, INCThe Humane Society in Eastern North Carolina was established over 20 years ago to protect animals from cruelty and abuse. It was designed not only to serve as a safe haven for homeless and neglected pets but also to act as a resource and service to the community of Pitt County. By educating the public about issues pertaining to animals, we feel that we can work towards the elimination of over breeding of dogs and cats and teach owners how to be responsible pet owners. At the same time, we hope to facilitate adoption of pets to good homes so that we can allow more of the unwanted pets to enter our gates.
