Welcome to Great Lakes Border Collie Rescue
Border Collies have been bred to work with people and to give all they can for their master. In return, we seek to be the "best friend" that this magnificent breed needs and deserves. Great Lakes Border Collie Rescue's main goal is to provide an adoption service, locating responsible and appropriate homes for the unwanted Border Collies who have come into our care. We seek the owner who will give abundant love and provide these Border Collies with opportunities to be their best. It is also our desire to promote responsible Border Collie ownership with the use of a tool called Education.

Because we have such a tiny facility and no municipal funding, we cannot hold our dogs long before they may be subject to euthanation. We try our best to find them loving homes before we have to make that terrible decision, and it breaks our hearts each time we have to decide to put an animal down. We are desperate for permanent, loving, responsible homes.

Our adoption policy is quite simple! First, you have to come into the shelter and find a pet that will suit your family. Then you fill out an application consisting of your name, address, veterinarian, and a short adoption agreement. We schedule a spay/neuter appointment for the animal and after the procedure is complete you pick your new pet up from Eagle River Animal Hospital in Eagle River. One thing that we would like to mention is that the Humane Society of Vilas County does not adopt dogs out to live outside.
