Society for the Protection of Animal Rights in Egyptdream for Amina Abaza became a reality in September 2001, when the Society for the Protection of Animal Rights in Egypt received its registration as the first animal welfare organization in Egypt to address the situation of all animals. In 2000, Amina and her husband Raouf rented a plot of land on the Saqqara Road just 20 minutes from downtown Cairo and began to construct a dog shelter.
